2025 Property Tax Hike: Bucks County Officials Target 17 Local Areas!
Get ready, Bucks County! In 2025, 17 out of the 54 municipalities will see a rise in taxes, with some towns experiencing increases that could reach up to 20% or more!
Doylestown and Northampton townships are leading the charge, with local tax bills expected to jump by an average of $150.93 and $177.64, respectively. That’s according to the latest budget documents and property assessments.
But how do they calculate these taxes, you ask? It’s all based on the assessed value of your property and the millage rate set by various agencies, which translates to $1 for every $1,000 of assessed value.
Your tax dollars are hard at work funding essential services and local projects. This year, several towns—including Northampton, Solebury, and Bristol—are earmarking their tax increases specifically for fire services.
In Doylestown Township, the tax hike will contribute to hiring two new police officers and cover a new pension rate. Plus, it will fund a bond that finances a community recreation center and ongoing infrastructure maintenance. It’s all about making our community safer and more enjoyable!

School taxes typically make up the largest portion of your tax bill, with all 13 school districts in Bucks County imposing triple-digit millage rates.
Recently, Bucks County commissioners approved a whopping $500 million budget for 2025 that preserves the current 27.45 millage rate, which is already higher than most municipalities.
