  • A delegation from Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine (HBMCDM) embarked on an exciting journey to Boston, engaging with prestigious institutions like Tufts University and Boston University.

Dubai, UAE— In a groundbreaking move for oral health education and research, the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) has forged a powerful alliance with the American Dental Association Forsyth Institute (AFI), a leading research powerhouse in the United States dedicated to unraveling the deep connections between oral health and overall wellness. This strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is set to propel oral health innovation and technology development in Dubai, creating dynamic opportunities for students and faculty at HBMCDM, and aligning perfectly with Dubai Health’s commitment to evidence-based patient care.

The collaboration between Dubai Health and AFI will pave the way for exciting joint research initiatives and student exchange programs, all designed to tackle pressing oral health challenges and enhance dental care outcomes. This partnership will also spark a series of joint symposia, conferences, and workshops, fostering a vibrant exchange of knowledge among oral health professionals. It’s a bold step in advancing Dubai Health’s integrated academic health system, where education and discovery are at the forefront of creating evidence-based solutions that elevate patient experiences and outcomes.

Professor Manal Al Halabi, Dean of HBMCDM at MBRU, expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This collaboration with the ADA Forsyth Institute marks a significant leap forward in our mission to enhance oral health research and education at MBRU. It opens up a treasure trove of opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing, which will ultimately lead to improved oral health care for all.”

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Wenyuan Shi, CEO of AFI, highlighted the benefits of their collaboration, saying, “ADA Forsyth has cultivated a thriving ecosystem for oral health technology development. Partnering with MBRU allows us to extend this ecosystem to Dubai Health, fostering global oral health innovation and research collaboration.”

In a testament to MBRU’s dedication to global partnerships, a delegation from HBMCDM recently visited Boston’s elite dental schools, aiming to fortify international ties. Led by the dynamic Professor Manal Al Halabi, the team engaged with top-tier institutions, including Tufts University and Boston University’s Henry Goldman School of Dental Medicine. They took part in the prestigious DENTECH ADA Forsyth meeting, where Professor Al Halabi shared her insights as a panelist in a discussion centered on Global Innovation and Investment. The delegation also attended the Tufts Annual Implantology Symposium, with Professor Al Halabi participating in the Dean’s Round Table discussion alongside luminaries from renowned global dental institutions. The visit was further enriched by meetings with Dubai Health scholars in Boston, supporting their academic and professional journeys.

The remarkable delegation included notable figures such as Dr. Eman Alnuaimi, Assistant Dean for Student Happiness and Wellbeing; Professor Momen Atieh, Chair of Oral Diagnostics and Surgical Sciences; Dr. Mohamed Jamal, Program Director for Endodontics; and Dr. Anas AlSalami, Program Director for Pediatric Dentistry.
