The unforgettable Jocelyn Wildenstein, famously dubbed the “Catwoman” due to her striking feline-inspired appearances, has sadly left us at the age of 84.

Born in Switzerland but later blossoming into a New York socialite, Wildenstein’s life took a dramatic turn when she succumbed to a pulmonary embolism in Paris on New Year’s Eve, as confirmed by her partner Lloyd Klein.

In a heartfelt statement, Lloyd expressed his sorrow, declaring that an “icon had died.” Wildenstein first captured public attention in the 1990s during her tumultuous divorce from billionaire art dealer Alec Wildenstein.

This high-profile split was nothing short of scandalous, igniting tabloid frenzy after Jocelyn discovered Alec in bed with a Russian model. In a fit of rage, Alec, who passed away in 2008, threatened Jocelyn with a gun.

She promptly filed for divorce on grounds of adultery, leading Alec to retaliate by cutting off her lavish allowance, turning their divorce saga into a sensational courtroom drama.

In the end, she walked away with a staggering $2.5 billion settlement, but with the stipulation that it wouldn’t finance any cosmetic enhancements.

During the divorce, her dramatic transformation garnered her the moniker “Bride of Wildenstein,” as reports claimed she underwent extensive surgeries in an effort to mirror Alec’s obsession with big cats.

It was alleged that Wildenstein altered her appearance to appease Alec, which began when they met on a safari in Kenya. She reportedly underwent surgeries to achieve a more exotic look, believing it would please him.

In a 1998 profile, Alec revealed they underwent “his and her eyelifts” shortly after marrying, adding, “She was crazy. I would always find out last. She was thinking that she could fix her face like a piece of furniture. But she wouldn’t listen.”

Reports suggested she spent an astounding $2 million on surgeries to “please” her husband, famously owning a Lynx as a pet, which she described as having “perfect eyes.”

Yet, just last November, Wildenstein vehemently denied ever undergoing plastic surgery, expressing her fear of the potential consequences. “I haven’t had plastic surgery, I am scared of what can happen,” she stated, recounting her unfortunate experiences with Botox.

Despite the lavish lifestyle and her massive divorce settlement, Wildenstein faced financial struggles, ultimately filing for bankruptcy in 2018. Her properties, including three luxurious apartments in Trump Tower, were repossessed just two years later.

She is survived by her two children from her marriage with Alec and her partner Lloyd.
