XL Bully Owner Charged: Schoolgirl, 12, Left with Life-Altering Injuries
In a shocking turn of events, a young girl has been left fighting for her life after a savage dog attack, sparking outrage and serious legal repercussions. Twelve-year-old Ayva Batkin was left with devastating injuries when an XL Bully lunged at her without warning, leaving deep bite marks and a harrowing tale of survival.
The attack unfolded on October 7, as Ayva stepped out of her family car on The Crescent in Nantyglo, Brynmawr. In just a split second, a dog charged at her, sinking its teeth into her arm with terrifying force. Eyewitnesses report that the dog was not on a leash and lacked a muzzle, showcasing a blatant disregard for public safety.
Ayva, a passionate martial arts enthusiast, is not letting this trauma define her. After undergoing extensive plastic surgery to repair the damage—using skin and ligaments from her leg—she has vowed to rise up stronger than ever. Her father, Justin Allison, bravely intervened during the attack, leading to charges against him for owning a prohibited breed and having a dangerously out-of-control dog in public.

Ayva’s mother, Louisa, expressed her pride and admiration for her daughter’s bravery, describing her as an inspiration. “Despite her severe injuries, the first thing she said was how thankful she was it was her and not her younger brother who was attacked,” she noted, highlighting Ayva’s selfless spirit amidst the chaos.
Louisa’s heartache is palpable as she reflects on the life-altering consequences of this incident. “My daughter will carry these scars, both physical and emotional, for the rest of her life. A few inches or a couple of millimeters deeper, and we could have lost her,” she said, emphasizing the need for greater awareness and responsibility among dog owners.

In the wake of this tragedy, two individuals were arrested in connection with the attack, and the dog has since been euthanized. Gwent Police responded swiftly, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident and the need for accountability. “We urge dog owners to adhere to safety regulations for the protection of our communities,” a spokesperson stated.
As Ayva continues her recovery, her story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of vigilance and responsibility in pet ownership. We must all take steps to ensure the safety of our children and our neighborhoods. Let’s unite to advocate for change to prevent such heart-wrenching incidents from happening again.
