Exciting Growth: Plastic Surgery Northwest Expands in Spokane!

Get ready Spokane, because something extraordinary is unfolding right in your backyard! Plastic Surgery Northwest PLLC is unveiling the dazzling results of an ambitious 21-month renovation that’s set to redefine excellence in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. This transformation isn’t just cosmetic; it’s a bold statement of innovation and care, with the grand reveal happening this month.

Located on Spokane’s vibrant lower South Hill, this 35-year-old medical office building has expanded by a whopping 8,000 square feet, bringing the total to a stunning 20,000 square feet! Dr. Chad Wheeler, one of the visionary owners, shared, “Our mission was to create a captivating, eye-catching, and beautiful facility. We specialize in cutting-edge plastic surgery, and we wanted our building to reflect that same level of quality.”

The $8 million remodel aims to make the facility a landmark that’s instantly recognizable. Gone is the bland gray exterior—now it boasts a sleek, modern facade and striking signage featuring the practice’s distinctive peacock logo. Talk about making a statement!

Conveniently situated at 530 S. Cowley, just a stone’s throw from Providence St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Medical Center, the revamped Plastic Surgery Northwest now features dedicated entrances for its luxurious medical spa, Spa Pavone, as well as for the breast center and surgical center.

With the brilliant design work of Raymond Fox & Associates and construction by Spokane’s own Walker Construction Inc., the new look is not just about aesthetics—it’s about creating an environment where patients feel valued and cared for.

“For too long, we were hidden in plain sight—I felt like our building resembled a dentist’s office,” Dr. Wheeler remarked. “We wanted to design a facility that would stand out and let people know exactly what we do here.”

The focus on patient privacy and staff welfare is paramount in this renovation. The building now includes 14 exam rooms—up from nine—and a redesigned reception area that ensures private checkouts. Individual quote rooms for discussing healthcare costs provide a more personalized experience, along with dedicated discharge rooms for patients leaving the surgical center.

But that’s not all! Patients will also benefit from an innovative hyperbaric chamber designed to accelerate healing with pure oxygen therapy. “We’ve packed in a ton of exciting features,” Dr. Wheeler added with pride.

Staff members are equally catered to, with new conference rooms, upgraded restrooms, and a breakroom that opens onto a rooftop deck, creating a refreshing space to unwind. Significant upgrades to electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems bring the facility up to the latest Medicare certification standards and comply with Washington’s Clean Building Act.

As the surgery center expands, it now has the capacity to host events that were once relegated to outdoor settings due to limited space. Dr. Janelle Sousa highlighted, “We’re thrilled to have the room to host events like BRA Day, Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, right here in our facility.”

Plastic Surgery Northwest proudly stands as one of the largest practices in the Inland Northwest, servicing a vast catchment area of about 3.5 million people. With six full-time surgeons and two part-time surgeons, they draw clients from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Utah, and even from as far away as Missouri and Canada.

In 2023 alone, the center performed over 500 reconstructive surgeries, a testament to its high-volume status. Despite their significant presence, many in the community remain unaware of the services they provide. Much of their business comes through referrals from other healthcare providers, which speaks volumes about their reputation.

“A key aspect of our work is breast reconstruction after cancer treatment,” Dr. Wheeler explained, emphasizing the crucial difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. “Many people mistakenly believe breast reconstruction is purely cosmetic, but it’s covered by insurance just like any other medical procedure.”

With a team of dedicated employees managing the intricate billing processes and coordinating patient care, Plastic Surgery Northwest is not only committed to serving its community but is also exploring ways to extend its expertise to other healthcare entities.

In a world where the nuances of plastic surgery are often misunderstood, the team at Plastic Surgery Northwest is on a mission to educate the community about the critical, life-changing nature of their work. From trauma reconstruction to congenital issues and cancer-related surgeries, they’re reshaping lives one patient at a time.
