Historic Scottish Dental Practice, Established in 1861, Up for Sale!
Nestled in the heart of Stirling, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Thistle Shopping Centre and the iconic Albert Halls, the Platt & Common Dental Practice stands as a testament to timeless dental care.
John and Jennifer Denham, who joined this cherished practice in 1999 and 2000, have proudly owned it since 2011, fostering a legacy of excellence and community trust.
After a discreet sales process managed by the expert Joel Mannix at Christie & Co, this esteemed practice has been acquired by Scottish Dental Care, a dynamic force rapidly claiming its stake in the Scottish dental scene.
Reflecting on their journey, John and Jennifer shared, “We took over the practice in May 2011 following the unexpected loss of its previous owner. Transitioning from associates to owners of a practice established way back in 1861 and housed in a historic building was quite a leap!”
“Over the past 13 years, we’ve poured our hearts into renovating the main building and its outbuilding while making significant investments in cutting-edge technology. As we approached our golden milestone of 50, we felt it was time to envision our next chapter for the next five to ten years. We genuinely wish our successors the best and hope they continue to elevate Platt & Common into a modern, high-quality family dental practice. We’re excited to see the new services they will bring to our community!”
Joel Mannix, head of dental at Christie & Co, commented, “We first connected with Jennifer and John back in 2022 as they mapped out their future options. Over the next year, we worked hand in hand, crafting a tailored marketing approach that safeguarded their confidentiality while attracting the right buyers.”
“Scottish Dental Care quickly rose to the top as the ideal fit, and with everyone’s hard work, we wrapped up the deal in just four months. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see such a significant transaction come to fruition, and I wish all parties immense success moving forward!”
The details surrounding the sale price of Platt & Common Dental Practice remain under wraps.

The announcement from Aviva about its bid came after the market closed last night, followed closely by Direct Line’s statement, which deemed the offer as “substantially undervalued” and opportunistic.
