Cradle and KLDX are on a mission to empower Malaysian startups by providing access to innovative financing solutions through digital exchanges. Present at the MoU ceremony were industry leaders including Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr. Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani (Chairman, KLDX), Norman Matthieu Vanhaecke (Group CEO, Cradle), and others.

This partnership is more than just a handshake; it’s a game-changer. It gives startups the freedom to explore funding avenues that perfectly match their unique goals. Companies that might have found it tough to attract local venture capital can now tap into KLDX’s platform for a much-needed financial boost!

As part of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation’s (MOSTI) Fund Funnel Programme, this alliance is strategically designed to tackle one of the pressing issues in the Malaysian startup ecosystem: securing continuous financial support as companies transition from early-stage to sustained growth.

This challenge has been spotlighted as a major growth barrier in the Malaysia Startup Ecosystem Roadmap (SUPER) 2021-2030.

YBhg. Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Nor Azman Hassan, Deputy Secretary General, Technology Development of MOSTI, shared, “The collaboration between Cradle and KLDX reaffirms our dedication to cultivating a thriving and sustainable startup ecosystem in Malaysia.”

Norman Matthieu Vanhaecke, Group CEO of Cradle, emphasizes the vital role of this partnership.

“The Fund Funnel programme seeks to fill crucial funding gaps, ensuring startups have a consistent influx of capital as they evolve,” he continued. “By unlocking alternative funding options, we’re setting the stage for Malaysia to emerge as one of the top 20 startup ecosystems globally by 2030. MOSTI is committed to nurturing collaborations that propel our national aspirations forward.”

Norman Matthieu Vanhaecke, the visionary at the helm of Cradle, stated, “Our partnership with KLDX represents a significant leap forward in nurturing and expanding the Malaysian startup ecosystem.”

“Having extensive experience in funding early-stage startups, Cradle recognizes the essential need for ongoing capital access as businesses scale. With KLDX, we are introducing an innovative financing option that provides startups the flexibility they need for sustainable growth and creativity. We are excited to present this opportunity to our alumni and startups across Malaysia as a robust alternative to traditional venture capital funding.”

Selvarany Rasiah, CEO of KLDX, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to work alongside Cradle to pave a transformative path for Malaysian startups and SMEs, enabling them to access alternative funding through the KLDX platform. This partnership is a significant stride toward bridging the funding gap in our startup ecosystem.”

“Our platform is designed to help companies secure the capital they need to innovate, expand, and prepare for long-term success, including the potential for an IPO. By providing flexible fundraising options, KLDX and Cradle are empowering Malaysian startups to scale sustainably and contribute to our nation’s vision of becoming a global leader in the startup landscape.”

As part of intervention two of SUPER, there’s a crucial need to enhance the investment attraction framework, making it more efficient and appealing to high-quality investors. The collaboration between Cradle and KLDX directly addresses this by creating a streamlined and cohesive funding pathway for startups, facilitating a smoother journey from early to later-stage investments.

The MoU targets the often challenging Series A and beyond funding stage, ensuring that startups are supported as they transition from early funding to sustained growth and eventual readiness for an IPO.

Cradle is set to actively promote the KLDX platform to its extensive alumni network, providing startups an alternative route for fundraising and closing the financing gap at critical growth stages.

Moreover, startups will have seamless access to the KLDX platform via the MYStartup Single Window, ensuring that funding solutions are just a click away.
