Smile Bright: Marquette University Unveils State-of-the-Art Dental Clinic!
Exciting news has emerged from Milwaukee! Marquette University has just unveiled its brand-new Delta Dental Urgent and Special Care Clinic—a project years in the making that promises to transform dental care for our community!
University officials are thrilled about this new clinic, which not only enhances patient care but also enriches the clinical education experience for Marquette’s dental students. Here, patients can receive urgent dental services delivered by students under the watchful eye of licensed professionals.
“Witnessing the transformation of our clinics from vision to reality has been nothing short of inspiring,” said Marquette University President Kimo Ah Yun. “Our students are now learning in cutting-edge facilities equipped with the latest technology, setting them up for success as they embark on their careers. These spaces also reaffirm our commitment to delivering exceptional oral care, especially to those in underserved communities.”
The Delta Dental Urgent and Special Care Clinic is not just any facility; it’s a lifeline for those who need it most. With specialized features aimed at providing optimal care for patients with unique needs, this clinic is a beacon of hope. From the wheelchair lift and bariatric chair to the sensory room, every detail has been carefully curated to ensure every patient feels comfortable and valued.
Marquette University has successfully raised $7.5 million to bring this vision to life, alongside a generous grant of $1.02 million from the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, aimed at enhancing clinic capacity and equipment.
As Wisconsin’s only dental school, Marquette is poised to extend its reach, delivering essential oral care to patients across 66 out of 72 counties in the state. Since the School of Dentistry opened its doors over two decades ago, it has welcomed nearly 2 million patient visits. The new facility is designed to equip the next generation of dentists to thrive in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Delta Dental of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Dental Association, our dedicated government leaders, and all the generous donors who stood by us throughout this journey. Their unwavering support exemplifies our collective mission to serve the people of Wisconsin with passion, integrity, and excellence, particularly those who are underserved or have special needs,” said Elsbeth Kalenderian, Dean of the dental school.
The Delta Dental Urgent and Special Care Clinic is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about this remarkable facility, click here.
