Infrastructure mogul Mike Salzman takes the helm as Operating Partner!
NEW YORK, Jan. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Jacmel Partners, a trailblazing minority-owned alternative investment firm, proudly unveils its ambitious new initiative: Jacmel Infrastructure. This game-changing platform is set to revolutionize critical infrastructure projects across transportation, energy, social, and digital sectors. We are thrilled to announce the appointment of seasoned industry veteran Mike Salzman as our Operating Partner! Having previously served as a Senior Advisor, Mike is now ready to spearhead the sourcing, underwriting, and execution of transformative infrastructure investments.
Jacmel Infrastructure is on a mission to provide vital capital and support for projects in collaboration with developers, investors, and government entities, positioning itself as the go-to strategic partner in this rapidly evolving sector. Our focus is firmly set on North American investments through innovative and diversified structures, including public-private partnerships (P3s). Leading the charge are Co-Managing Partners Nick Jean-Baptiste and Jorge Mora, both of whom bring a wealth of experience in private transactions and leveraged finance, honed during their time at Macquarie Group. The Jacmel team boasts an impressive average of 25 years of expertise as asset owners, operators, developers, and advisors across private markets.
Recently, Jacmel has made significant strides in building operating platforms that deliver state-of-the-art infrastructure and IT solutions. A pivotal moment in our journey was the acquisition of Arora Engineers, a leader in infrastructure engineering services, which has backed over $23 billion in infrastructure projects. With this robust experience and our team’s established industry connections, Jacmel Infrastructure has already closed its first transaction and is gearing up to announce groundbreaking deals in the near future.
“The journey of creating Jacmel Infrastructure alongside Jorge, Mike, and our dedicated team has been incredibly fulfilling—it’s the perfect next step in Jacmel’s evolution,” stated Jean-Baptiste, Co-Managing Partner. “From our inception in 2015, we envisioned a firm that not only delivers value and capital but also makes a tangible impact on privately held businesses. With our extensive due diligence and longstanding ties with municipalities and infrastructure authorities, we are poised to capitalize on the significant opportunities within the infrastructure market—especially the gap left by private firms that fail to understand local government dynamics. Over the last eighteen months, we’ve purposefully built a platform that aims to create a meaningful impact through private investment in North American infrastructure projects, and Mike has been a pivotal ally in this launch.”
Salzman is a seasoned infrastructure investor with over twenty years of experience in structuring, financing, and delivering large-scale developments, including P3s. He previously served as the Global Head of Airports at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), where his leadership secured the exclusive commercial development rights for two terminals at JFK International Airport and facilitated two major terminal-wide redevelopments at LAX. Salzman has also been a Board Member of Servy, an innovative mobile-ordering platform for airports, and served as Chief Development Officer for Brightline Trains. Before Brightline, Mike led the Americas Development team at Caesars Entertainment, overseeing the execution of more than $4 billion in new projects during his tenure.
Co-Managing Partner Mora expressed, “By collaborating with Mike, we’ve been able to leverage our team’s investment and operational expertise in infrastructure, tech-enabled business services, and create a systematic, value-driven approach to large-scale infrastructure investments. We recognize the increasing demand for infrastructure investors and local partners who understand and reflect the cultures of local governments and the communities these projects serve. With strong bipartisan support for infrastructure investment, and the momentum of broader macro trends alongside a push for diverse representation in key markets, we couldn’t be more excited to launch this new chapter for our firm.”
Salzman remarked, “In my year working with Jacmel as a Senior Advisor, I quickly discovered how unique their approach is toward investments and partnerships, as well as their deep commitment to fostering meaningful relationships that positively impact local communities. Within the infrastructure sector, investing with empathy and understanding is essential, and Jacmel has consistently found ways to leverage its networks for early access to opportunities while employing a holistic approach to underwriting and risk management based on the team’s collective experiences. I am honored to help shape Jacmel Infrastructure alongside Nick and Jorge, and to use our combined expertise to create value for investors, employees, passengers, and local communities.”
Salzman holds an AB in Economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
